"A Bee-Licious Treat"

Chocolate Bee Hive

Your afternoon tea guests will be all "a buzz" with compliments when they see this delightful Hershey’s Kiss Bee Hive on the table. It’s so simple to make, yet so impressive to look at. All you need are a good supply of Hershey’s Kisses chocolate candies, a Styrofoam egg (the size depends on how large a bee hive you wish to make), fat round wooden toothpicks (they must be sturdy), and a decorative plate on which to display your work of art. You can also purchase pretty little butterflies, bumble bees or any other fun accents on wire posts from your local craft store to embellish it. The scrap booking section has lots of little decorative ornaments that would work well.

Start by cutting the bottom quarter from the large end of the Styrofoam egg. That will give it a flat base on which to stand. Next, you are ready to prepare the Hershey Kisses.

Carefully pull out the paper name tag from each candy and insert a toothpick into the flat end.
You can prepare a lot of these at one time so you will have a supply ready to start assembling your bee hive.

To assemble, start by inserting a row of candies around the base of the Styrofoam egg. You can leave as much or as little of the toothpick sticking out. But try to insert the candies evenly so they are close together in a row and the bottoms are uniformly distant from the egg. The more toothpick you leave showing, the larger the bee hive. Continue working your way up the sides of the egg in uniform rows, inserting the candies so they are as close together as you can get them. That way, you will see less of the Styrofoam and toothpicks when it is finished.

When you reach the top, insert the last one that you can fit in, and you are finished. The Styrofoam egg should be covered in Hershey Kisses.

Place your "Bee Hive" on a pretty plate and add the decorations that you purchased. We found these cute butterflies on wire posts to adorn our Bee Hive.

This chocolate Bee Hive will make a whimsical, pretty, fun and delicious centerpiece on any Afternoon Tea table. They are also perfect for bridal showers, baby showers, Easter celebrations and birthday parties as well. Depending on the time of year, you will also find these Hershey’s Kisses wrapped in different colored foil wrappers, making your Bee Hive even more unique. And, you can even make individual Bee Hives for each place setting. Just purchase small Styrofoam eggs, and you can make them in miniature. What guest wouldn’t just love to take home one of these adorable and delicious treats!
