                "Jimdandy Brandy Cranberries"

If you would like to add a little "zing" to your Holiday Afternoon Tea party, then cook up several batches of these Brandied Cranberries to give to your guests as parting gifts. Presented in pretty jars that you can decorate yourself, these tasty cranberries are delicious when spooned over a bowl of ice cream or pound cake.

2 bags of fresh or frozen

and thawed cranberries
2 jars red currant jelly
1/2 cup sugar (Splenda can be
    substituted)
1-1/4 cups light rum
3/4 cup brandy
Grated zest of 2 oranges

In a large saucepan, combine the cranberries, jelly, sugar, rum, brandy and orange zest. Bring the mixture to boiling over medium heat.

Cook the mixture, stirring constantly, for about 5-7 minutes, or until the sauce thickens and some (but not all) of the berries pop open.
Remove the saucepan from the stove and cool slightly.

Pour the sauce into sterilized jars and refrigerate.

When you are ready to give away these tasty presents, decorate the jars with strands of raffia tied around the neck of the jars along with a sprig of holly and some berries or a cute little tree ornament that your guest can use during the holidays.
