                    "Show Me the Money"

If you want to set a truly unique Afternoon Tea table, then you will want to learn how to do Dollar Bill Origami. There are so many wonderfully whimsical designs you can fold that would delight not only children but adults as well. Use them as place setting decorations or tea party favors. They will have your Afternoon Tea guests oohing and aahing at your creative talents.

The Tuxedo Shirt

When you finish folding this "Tuxedo Shirt" from a dollar bill, use it to dress up a Teddy Bear Tea Party table for your young guests. It can be attached to store bought napkin rings with a little double-sided tape, or it can hold a place card tucked under its collar. It can also adorn a New Year’s Eve tea party table where "black tie" is optional.

Step 1: Fold the bill in half lengthwise so the front of the bill is on the inside. Always make sure you have good, sharp creases in your folds. Unfold the bill and lay it flat for the next step.

Step 2: Fold each side of the bill in to meet the center crease. Don’t overlap the edges. Fold them just so they meet in the center.

Step 3: Turn the bill over and fold the white border of one end down. This will become the collar.

Step 4: Turn the bill back over again. Fold the two top corners down at an angle so the points meet exactly at the center line. The angle is not so critical, but should be about the same distance down the sides of the bill as shown.

Step 5: Fold about a third of the bill up from the bottom end as shown. The white bordered edge of the bill should just come to the letter "F" in "Of America."

Step 6: Take the bottom section you just folded, and fold it up again, tucking it under the "white collar" created in Step 3. Your bill should start to look like a shirt at this point. Make sure all of your creases have been sharp.

Step 7: Unfold the previous two folds. Using the crease farthest from the collar, refold the bill straight across as shown.

Step 8: Now you are ready to create the sleeves. They are a little tricky, but if you take your time, you can make them as shown in the photo.
You want to hold on to the top outside corners, and fold the excess edges of the bill back inside along the original vertical creases created in Step 2. The top corners with the white borders will form the sleeves. Fold one corner at a time, and be sure to make sharp creases.

Turn the bill around so the "collar" is on top. Bring the bottom fold with the sleeves back up and tuck it under the collar again. You’re finished! Your "Tuxedo Shirt" is ready to adorn your Afternoon Tea table.

The Ring

To continue dressing your Afternoon Tea table, the "‘Dollar Bill Ring" is a required accessory for the best dressed lady. Make these for every gal attending your Afternoon Tea, and they will be the talk of the town when wearing your unique gift.

Step 1: Place the dollar bill with the front facing you. Fold down the top white border. Make sure your creases are very sharp.

Step 2: Fold the bottom of the bill up to meet the top folded edge, and tuck the bottom edge under the top fold.

Step 3: Fold the bottom of the bill up again to meet the top folded edge. But, do not tuck this edge under this time.

Step 4: Turn the bill around so the word "One" is right side up and you can see the top of the pyramid. Fold the right side down at a 90E angle so the left edge of the fold is lined up with the "E" in the word "One", forming a tail.

Step 5: Turn the bill over so you can see the number "1." Fold the number "1" over so the crease falls to the right of the number. Then, fold the white border on the other side of the number "1" under.

Step 6: Hold the bill so that the number "1" is folded away from you and is at the top end of your work. Wrap the length of the bill up and around your finger so that the straight folded edge of the tail lines up with the fold next to the number "1."

Step 7: Wrap the tail around and through the circle of the ring.

Step 8: Fold the end of the tail behind the fold of the number "1" section. Fold the number "1" section down over the wrapped tail.

Step 9: Tuck the white border of the number "1" section into the folds of the wrapped tail.

Step 10: To make the "band" of the ring more narrow, fold in the outer 1/3 of each edge of the ring "band" in toward the center. Crease well.

You’re finished! Now you have the "Tuxedo Shirt" and "The Ring," all you need is the proposal! What a great Afternoon Tea Party.
