"Spread It Around"
Sweet Spreads

     Scones are a tea-lightful Afternoon Tea repast by themselves, but when paired with a variety of tea-lectable spreads, they take on another tasty life of their own. Here are a few tea-licious sweet spreads that will dress up even the finest scones on your tea table.  Package these spreads in pretty decorated jars or containers, and they make lovely hostess gifts as well.

 
Choco-Nut Spread

2 pkgs. cream cheese,
    softened
1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar
2/3 cup semisweet chocolate,
    grated
2/3 cup hazelnuts, finely
    chopped

     In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese and confectioner’s sugar together, using an electric mixer on medium, until smooth.
    Pour in the chocolate and hazelnuts, and continue beating just until combined.
    Refrigerate until ready to serve. 
  

 

 

 

                                           Cherry-Nut Spread


2 pkgs. cream cheese,
    softened
1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar
2/3 cup cherry preserves
2/3 cup walnuts, finely
    chopped
1 tsp. Cherry Heering
    (cherry liquer)

    In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese and confectioners’ sugar together, using an electric mixer on medium, until smooth.
    Pour in the cherry preserves, walnuts and Cherry Heering, and continue beating just until combined.
    Refrigerate until ready to serve.

                                  

                                     Sweet Strawberry Spread


1 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup confectioners’ sugar
2/3 cup strawberry preserves

In a medium bowl, beat the heavy cream and confectioners’ sugar together, using an electric mixer on medium, until peaks form. 
    Mix in the strawberry preserves until combined.   Refrigerate until ready to serve.


                                     Sweet Peanutty Spread


2 cups peanut butter
1 cup honey
1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar
1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

    In a medium bowl, beat the peanut butter and honey together, using an electric mixer with the paddle attachment on medium, until smooth.
    Mix in the confectioners’ sugar and vanilla extract until combined.   
Refrigerate until ready to serve.
