"Where the Art and Elegance of Taking Tea is Treasured"
An incredibly easy and inexpensive treat for your Afternoon Tea table is Chocolate Kissed Cookies. They are made with store bought vanilla wafers and Hershey’s Kisses. Nothing could be simpler, faster or less expensive, and they are as decadent as any chocolate confection you would pay big bucks for in a chocolate shoppe.
1 box vanilla wafers
"Chocolate Kissed Cookies"
1 bag Hershey’s Kisses
Optional:
M&M Candies
Walnut halves
Flaked Coconut
Preheat oven to 200E (you can use a toaster oven to save even more money by using less energy than a large oven).
On an ungreased baking sheet, place the vanilla wafers 1" apart. Place a Hershey’s Kiss on top of each cookie.
Bake for 5 minutes or until the chocolate softens and starts to melt onto the cookies.
Remove the cookies from the oven. At this point, you can place an M&M candy in the center of the chocolate for an added decorative and tasty treat. Or you can top each with a walnut half or some flaked coconut.
Cool the cookies completely and let the chocolate set. You can refrigerate the cookies, which will make the chocolate crunchy hard.
The ingredients cost us approximately:
Vanilla Wafers (88/box) - $.02 each ($2.19/box)
Hershey Kisses (72/bag) - $.04 each ($3.19/bag)
The approximate cost of one chocolate-topped cookie is $.06 (add a couple of pennies for the optional toppings). These are real budget-saving sweet treats, which all of us could use in these tough financial times.
