Tea is so good for your health in so many ways.  Green and black teas have been found to improve bone density, while polyphenols found in tea are antioxidants that destroy the free radicals that cause wrinkles.  They also improve blood flow to the skin and keep it well hydrated.


Tea bags were invented in New York City in 1904 by the very frugal and clever Thomas Sullivan.  He used them to send tea samples to his customers instead of filling expensive tins with the leaves.

Legend has it that tea was discovered in 2737 b.c. by a Chinese emperor when some leaves accidentally blew into a pot of boiling water.  That would make the beverage nearly 5,000 years old.

The first people to introduce tea to Europe and America were the Dutch.


Earl Grey was the Prime Minister of England under William IV.  However, his name is best remembered as a variety of tea named for him.  Legend has it that the blend was presented to him by a Chinese Mandarin who was seeking to influence trade relations between the two countries.  


A seasoned tea picker can harvest up to 70 pounds of tea daily by hand.
