"Where the Art and Elegance of Taking Tea is Treasured"
Sandwich Ingredients:
"Here Comes the Bride"
Nothing sets the tone for a lovely June wedding like an Afternoon Tea Shower for the Bride-to-Be. And the perfect tea sandwiches to dress the Bride’s table are Calla Lily Sandwiches. Prepare a bouquet of these delightfully tasty "flowers" and your guests will be showering you with praise and adoration.
1 pkg. Boursin garlic/herb
flavored cheese, softened
1 3-oz. Pkg. cream cheese,
softened
1/3 cup finely chopped walnuts
1/8 teaspoon ground cayenne
pepper
1/8 teaspoon ground black
pepper
4 dozen slices white bread
Garnish:
Paprika
2 carrots, peeled and cut
into small slivers
Green onions
In a small bowl, combine Boursin cheese, cream cheese, walnuts, cayenne pepper and black pepper. With an electric mixer, beat at medium speed until the mixture is creamy.
Using a 2-1/2" round cookie cutter, cut out 48 rounds from the bread slices. Using a rolling pin, roll each round to 1/8" thickness, keeping the round shape.
Spread each round with the cheese mixture. Working on one end of one round, gently "roll up" the bread round to create a trumpet-like cornucopia shape that looks like the head of a Calla Lily flower.
Garnish the bread round with a sprinkle of Paprika over the cheese mixture. Insert a sliver of carrot into the flower "opening" to resemble the stamen in the center of the flower. Insert a long green onion into the rolled up end to resemble the flower’s stem.
Arrange these Calla Lily tea sandwiches on your fanciest silver platter and set out a matching silver urn filled with Elmwood Inn’s White Radiance Tea. The beautiful Golden Yunnan tea is enhanced with orange peel and highlighted with Silver Needles from Sri Lanka. It’s one of the most popular teas for bridal showers on the market. The Bride-to-Be will definitely throw her bouquet your way to say "Thank You."
