"Where the Art and Elegance of Taking Tea is Treasured"
The most romantic day of the year is right around the corner, and you will definitely want to bake up a batch of these deliciously decadent Red Velvet Scones to woo the love of your life on Valentine’s Day. 2-1/4 cups flour
"Heart O' My Heart Scones"
2/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup unsweetened
cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup unsalted butter
3/4 cup heavy cream
1 large egg
2 tablespoons red food
coloring
3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon heavy cream
Glaze:
1 (3 oz.) package cream
cheese, softened
1 cup confectioners’ sugar
1 tablespoon heavy cream
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder and baking soda. Cut in the butter with a pastry blender or two knives until the mixture is crumbly.
In a small bowl, whisk together 3/4 cup heavy cream, egg, food coloring and vanilla extract.
Combine the cream and flour mixtures, stirring just until the dry ingredients are moistened. The dough will be sticky.
On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough to 1/2" thickness. Using a heart-shaped cutter, cut out the scones and place on the baking sheets. Brush the tops evenly with 1 tablespoon heavy cream. Bake 10 - 12 minutes. Cool completely.
To make the glaze, in a medium bowl, combine cream cheese, confectioners’ sugar and heavy cream. Beat the mixture with an electric mixer at low speed until smooth. Spoon the mixture into a piping bag or a plastic bag with one corner snipped off. Pipe thin lines of the glaze across the scones or create a decorative design.
