               "Good, Better, Best . . . Brownies"


      Who doesn’t love to indulge in rich, decadent chocolate? Well, here is the ultimate chocolate decadence – chocolate frosted brownies. They’re sweet. They’re satisfying. And they’re easy to make. What could be better!
 

1 cup + 1/2 cup butter
4 oz. unsweetened chocolate
1-2/3 cups sugar
4 eggs
1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup + 2/3 cup semisweet
     chocolate chunks
1 cup confectioners’ sugar

      Preheat oven to 350°. Line a 9" square baking pan with aluminum foil, draping it up and over two sides of the pan by 2". Coat the foil with non-stick cooking spray. 
      Put out 1/2 cup butter to warm to room temperature; set aside. 
      In a large pot over low heat, melt the unsweetened chocolate with 1 cup butter until smooth. Remove from heat and cool slightly. 
      Into the melted chocolate, stir the sugar, eggs and vanilla extract until smooth. Stir in flour, baking powder and salt. Stir in 3/4 cup of chocolate chunks. 
      Spread mixture in the baking pan and bake 30-35 minutes, or until pick inserted into center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes. Using the foil, lift the brownies from the pan and cool completely. Peel off the foil and cut brownies into squares. Serves 16. 
      To make frosting, put the remaining 2/3 cup of semisweet chocolate chunks in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for 20 seconds at a time, stirring, until melted; cool. With an electric mixer at medium-high speed, beat the melted chocolate and the reserved, room temperature butter until blended. Slowly beat in the confectioners’ sugar until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Spread frosting on the brownies. 

      These delicious chocolate goodies would taste great with either a cup of Stash’s Chocolate Hazelnut tea or, to add a little variety to your Afternoon Tea table, serve a cup of Stash’s Vanilla Creme tea. Either way, you and your guests won’t want to leave the table until the last brownie is gone!
