             "Candy Cane Lane Hot Chocolate"


      You wouldn’t think anything could improve a rich, decadent cup of piping hot chocolate. When you try this recipe for peppermint cocoa, you’ll change your mind. And if you are entertaining your adult friends, sprinkle in some crème de menthe or peppermint schnapps to add more life to the party.
 

8 cups 2% milk
3/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
3 oz. semisweet chocolate,
    finely chopped
12 candy canes
1 cup miniature marshmallows

     In a large saucepan over medium-low heat, combine milk, brown sugar, cocoa, vanilla, nutmeg and semisweet chocolate. Cook approximately 25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chocolate melts and the mixture is smooth. 
      Pour into 12 mugs or handled-glasses, approximately 3/4 cup in volume. Place a candy cane in each drink and top with some miniature marshmallows. 

      They’re festive, delicious and mouth-watering to children and adults alike. Serve these drinks along with a pot of Stash’s Chocolate Peppermint tea on your holiday table and don’t be surprised if Santa Claus himself shows up!
